Make it my own

I have been working in the background to find my Snap orange manual beetle for what seems like forever. Now with it and a parts car it’s time to start making it what I have always wanted out of a new beetle. Here is a sneak peak at the first big project for Pumk3n.

The rebuild is finally underway!

After the struggle was in fact real, I got the crack pipe in. Reached out to the all mystic Facebook for help. They said I would for sure need to clean up where the water transfer pipe went into the block. A trip to Harbor Freight later I got a knock off dremel to clean it up. After that a little deep breath and a pop it was in! Once that was done a few new bolts and the new thermostat housing was in as well.

The belt for the ac delete was absolutely wrong. And that blows. But yolo!

Intake Manifold is off.

Went to start the Secondary Air Injection pump off for the delete and realized that the intake manifold had to come off. I’m in a different realm working on the VR6. It doesn’t help that the car was a Michigan car for what I believe was probably its entire 200k mile life! While doing the delete I broke one of those stupid little plastics coolant Ts. But other than that I got the SAI deleted, while I had the extra room to get to the firewall I unbolted the ac hard lines from the heater core.

Before. You can see both Kombi valves.
After. Both Kombi valves removed, and the block off plates installed!
That dumb ass T I broke.

The Most Important Things

You already know. One of the most important things you can do is toss in an RCD330! Its an easy upgrade that makes and huge difference. Steering wheel buttons dont work, never had that problem before but this is the olded car I’ve put one in. I’m gonna try and pull the canbus gateway out of the mk6r parts car and see if i can program it and get it to function!

MK5 R32

Traded the GTI for a mk5 r32! Its number 2437. It’s got 200k miles and a massive coolant leak. It’s Candy White and wrapped in Green Black Iridescent. Some mods include brembo z18 big brake upgrade, h&r cup kit, unitronic stage 1+ tune, miltek exhaust, and a solid carrier bearing. The terrible “rally mud flaps” will absolutely be gone!

Chains “were done” by the previous previous over at 140k. But I have no proof so it’s something we will check and keep and eye on!

Shout out to James for helping me go pick it up.
